Shanghai in China is home to some of the tastiest dishes in the world. Join us as we visit some of the best restaurants in Shanghai to try out local Shanghainese fair as well as sample some of the city’s best international offerings. Our first stop is Jian Guo 328 where we try Shanghai’s famous Hong Shao Rou, delicious braised pork bites with quail eggs and chestnuts. Next, we visit 1970s-inspired Daimon on The Bund where they serve up Hong Kong-style food with a twist, such as Chilli Crab Xiao Long Baos and (our favourite) Claypot Rice with Iberico Ham! We also pop over to Shanghai’s Xiao Long Bao institution Jia Jia Tang Bao for way too many of their famous Pork & Crab and Pure Crab Xiao Long Baos. We taste our way through upscale Hakkasan’s delicious lily bulb and prawn dumplings before finishing with an experience of Chinese-Italian fusion at Xixi Bistro in hip Xin Tian Di. It’s all in our latest episode of Hawker Style, our original videos series exploring street food from across the globe.
