Malaysian cuisine combines the best of all Asian cuisines to create some of the world’s most delicious dishes. If you love street food and don’t mind the hustle and bustle of hawker stalls, you should definitely explore the famous Jalan Alor Food Street. Located in Kuala Lumpur’s busy shopping district Bukit Bintang, these permanent hawker stalls serve amazing Malaysian, Thai and Chinese street food.
If you’re feeling peckish, try some Bakkwa – Chinese style jerky or taste some grilled skewers with all kinds of meat including frog. If you’re feeling really hungry, order some of the best satay in the world or have a seafood feast. For dessert try the Putu Bambu, a sweet green cake made of palm sugar and coconut that is steamed inside little bamboo shoots. If you’re feeling adventurous try the durian, a fruit notorious for its strong smell but sweet flesh. It’s all here in our latest episode of Hawker Style, our original travel videos series exploring street food from across the globe.
