Japan‘s Omoide Yokocho is known by many names such as Memory Lane and Piss Alley. Tucked away just behind Shinjuku station, the street food alley is home to dozens of tiny Izakaya stalls serving up all sorts of grilled food on sticks, from leek and pork to chicken hearts. The smokey atmosphere, red lanterns and cyberpunk-esque spaces are also to have said to have inspired the look and feel of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner. Walk around and find an Izakaya that you like, grab a drink and chat up the person next to you. If Omoide Yokocho wasn’t enough for the night, hit up Tokyo’s Golden Gai just across the road for the perfect wrap to your night out. It’s all here in our latest episode of Japanoizy, our original travel video series exploring the best of Japan.
